The New Technical Manager seminar covers the following topics:

Communicating:
- how to sell your ideas and recommendations
- in all directions within the organization (upward, to peers, to the team, to the business counterparts)

- how to extract the essential information needed for each audience
- the importance of it and the timing during critical situations
Basic skills that need to be learned - Each section will include a clear definition and vision of success, key issues, exercises, and pragmatic tips from the research. The skills include:
- Project management
- Staff management
- Organizational skills (politics)
- Knowing the business
- Personal organization skills
- Meeting management
Budgeting:
- The overall process
- How to prepare for specific phases
- Communication needs
- Understanding the business requirements
The "hard stuff" as discussed during the interviews:
- the most difficult aspects of their transitions
- what helped them overcome the challenges
The career path:
- what is necessary to progress
- what to do if management is not the right place
- what are reasonable expectations
The course is held over three days in a hotel setting; it is limited to 15 people per session to ensure a high degree of interaction and participation.
